"Joy is found not in finishing an activity, but in doing it." |
Welcome to my newest creative endeavor! I'm a first-time blogger, first-year teacher, and lover of all things creative and crafty. What started out as a small collection of scrapbook paper has turned into an entire room dedicated to my crafting obsession. I'm pretty sure my local Michael's has a front-row parking spot reserved for me at this point! My ideas aren't always original (Thank you Pinterest!), but I love to personalize things and make them my own!
On January 1, 2014, I made a one-word goal for myself: happy. The previous year had been a rough one, and I knew it was time to make "happy" happen. Throughout the year though, I realized something about by search for happiness...I wasn't try to find it within myself. Instead, I was looking for other people to provide my happiness for me. I was putting all my eggs in someone else's basket and hoping their actions aligned with my expectations. The problem is that when their actions didn't fulfill those expectations, I found myself even more disappointed than before. Any ounce of happiness I had disappeared and everything came crashing down...but that is where I discovered the inner peace and contentment of JOY! Joy is internal and is not controlled by someone else. It is grown out of faith, grace, gratitude, hope, and love. It is the pure and simple delight in being alive. My journey to joy is a continual one, but I find bits and pieces of it in creating and sharing my gift of creativity with others. I hope to use this blog to share my favorite projects and ideas, and help others along their own path to joy!
