So obviously Thanksgiving was nearly a month ago, but seeing as I didn't start this blog until today, I figured some catching up was in order! One of my favorite things about any holiday is the decorating that goes along with it. Being a college student in a small, on-campus apartment, I didn't have a whole lot of money, time, or space to dedicate to this project, but I find that crafting is the best form of procrastination and even a little decor can really make a place feel like home! So I did some Pinteresting (yes, it's a verb now!) and got to work!
Pennant Banner Wreath
Items needed:
Putting it together is pretty straightforward: cut the burlap, write on it with sharpie*, glue it to the twine, and VOILA! The important thing to note here though, is that you cut the twine long enough to wrap it around the wreath without glueing it. That way you can change the pennant banner for each holiday! Now you only need one wreath for the whole year!
*I've also heard about printing straight to burlap using an inkjet printer, but I've never actually tried it out! I might have to get some freezer paper and try it out next time!
Items needed:
- wreath
- burlap
- twine
- hot glue gun (or other permanent adhesive)
- sharpie

Give Thanks Banner
Items needed:
I got my inspiration (and the free printables) from The TomKat Studio! Their original design used clothespins to hang the the banner pieces. I changed it up a bit by punching holes at the top and adding brown cardstock to the back of the printouts to make the banner a little more sturdy! I really love how it turned out and can't wait to put it back up next year!
Items needed:
- printer
- white paper
- cardstock (brown or whatever color you prefer!)
- ribbon (I chose a brown silk ribbon!)
- scissors
- adhesive
- hole punch

The Final Product
The rest of the decor wasn't so much crafty as much as it was just putting things together! I knew my group of friends was going to have our own Thanksgiving dinner, so I put the silverware in little mason jars and tied some ribbon around them. I also found several free printables online to frame! I especially love the "Give Thanks" pumpkin print. It was originally on a white background, but I printed it on a piece of yellow/white chevron scrapbook paper to add more color to it! Then I took some pinecones I already had, put them in a vase, and added some fake flowers I got from the clearance section at Walmart! Wrap a piece of gold chevron ribbon around it and TA-DA! We're all ready for Thanksgiving!
