It may not look like much to some people, but just three years ago, this beautiful bookcase of craft supplies was just a little drawer in my freshman dorm room that had some paint pens and glitter in it. The next year, my small collection to a single shelf on my bookcase with some craft paper, acrylic paint, and ribbon. Last year, I bought a small plastic drawer unit from Walmart. By the end of the summer, it was filled to the brim and falling apart, and I knew I was going to need another storage option STAT. Unfortunately, my little apartment doesn't have enough space for an entire room dedicated to crafting (although, one day I WILL fulfill that dream)! So, after spending hours upon hours researching and trying to figure out what would best suit my small space, I discovered my parents had an old (FREE!) bookcase sitting in their garage going unused! I swiped that up real quick and hauled it to my apartment! Now for the storing and organizing... I picked up all of the colored bins and pails in the dollar section at Target! Some were more expensive than others, but in total, I only spent about $25! Right now my bins are organized into adhesives, glitter, cards/envelopes, and paint. The long basket up top holds all of my ribbon, and the teal tray next to it is for odds and ends. The metal pails hold brushes, permanent markers, washable markers, and glue gun sticks, and the teal pouch on the second to top row holds all of my stickers. My scrapbook paper is sorted by color and is stored in an Iris 12x 12 File Box I found at Michael's (and bought with my favorite 40% off coupon)! Altogether, I probably spent around $50 on this project, but it was SO worth it! It has been the perfect storage solution for my small space, and I can't wait to see what it grows into next! |
